Update-ish

Well it has been a while since I've posted a personal update on here. Seems like once you have a baby they take most of the free time you've got and what they don't take that means you try to straighten the house up while baby is sleeping. The fact that I'm working full-time as well doesn't help.

Anyway, so things are going well here.. we are enjoying our precious little daughter. She is so much fun. A few weeks ago she found her thumb and now she loves to suck on it when she is going to sleep or tired. Then she rolled from her tummy to her back and a few days later from her back to her tummy. She has also discovered her toes first she spent just a week staring at them when ever she was sitting in her Super Seat or in her bouncy chair, now she pulls her legs up so she can grab them. So much fun, cute, and adorable stuff. I know I keep thinking to myself that it's unreal how cute she is and such a blessing. We are definitely enjoying every minute of our time with her!

Well.... until she doesn't sleep at night like I'd like her to but it all comes with it. My mom gave me this fabulous book to read, it is called Loving the Little Years ~Motherhood in the Trenches, by Rachel Jankovic. I definitely recommend this book, very helpful and it really helps put things into perspective and makes those night time feedings not so bad after all.

Other than that our daughter is growing like a "weed". We'll find out how much she weighs next Wednesday at the Dr.s but I wouldn't be shocked in the least if it's in the 16-17lbs range. We'll see how good my guess is :) Now here's a picture of her

Update: Trip to visit family

Well for the new year we went up to visit my family. It really seemed like I had seen most of them just a little while ago, since we had seen them around "US Thanksgiving". At the same time the visit was way to short... especially when you consider the time of year and how busy it gets when you add a few family get together's. That really fills a day up quickly!

We drove up on Wednesday, and actually had fairly nice roads.. other than the rain and slush for a few hours. Could have been worse though and been horribly icy, which it wasn't. I was shocked at how little snow there is in the mountains though! Especially considering it is already December... hopefully they get dumped on in the next few months! (It's one of those things, you grow up on a farm and your dad relies on irrigation for his crops so when there isn't a lot of snow you start to get worried)

Thursday I spent the morning puttering around doing things for my mom, running into town for some odds and ends. Then in the afternoon we drove up to Calgary to pick up my sister, her husband and little girl from the airport. Stopping in for a quick visit with John's cousin who had just had a little baby a few weeks earlier. On the way home from the airport we got pulled over in a check stop. Usually so not a huge deal... but this time.... hmmmmm well... what should I say. Kinda?! lol :) Since we drove my dad's truck up to get them that's all fine. But when you get pulled over they kinda look at your license, and then at the insurance/registration papers. I'm sure the R.C.M.P. put two and two together since my driver's license is still in my maiden name. Either way, we had a problem!!!! The papers for insurance were the outdated ones from last year... ooops! Since it is a law in Alberta that the driver needs to provide proof of insurance the cop told us that technically we would need to park the truck and couldn't go any further until he saw the papers. The other side of it was because I have a WA state drivers license, he asked if we all were from the U.S. I told him no.. we were on our way back from the airport, where we had picked up my sister/hubby/baby who flew in from B.C. Thanks to having a super nice cop that evening. He told me that he wouldn't leave us sitting along the side of the road tonight with a little baby. Pheww!  When I got home obviously that was something I had my mom take care of immediately. Just something else to tack onto our experiences :)

Friday: Now that was another super busy day! In the morning we had a family get-together with my mom's family, for lunch. Usually they have their dinner on Boxing Day, but the last few years it's turned out that it is whenever my sister and I come home so that we can be there as well. Which is nice, otherwise we don't get the chance very often to see all our aunts/uncles/cousins for a while. Granted we still don't see all of them, but at least it's most of them! In the evening we had a get-together with my dad's family, that wasn't a dinner though.. just a fun evening to hang out and have some coffee, visit with family and play some games!

I also had skirt that I needed to finish sewing. I had taken it along to have my mom look at it since something wasn't working for me and I had gotten frustrated and thrown it in a bag to take along. My mom sewed most of the elastic but told me she would do the 2nd last one and show me how, then I had to do the last one. So at least I had one more skirt!

Saturday was a little more of a relaxed day! I did some baking for Sunday, and we made oliebollen. For those of you who don't know what oliebollen are: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliebol It is a dutch tradition, and our family usually has to make them at least once!

On Monday we were on our way home again! It sure was good to be back in my own bed again :)

Having fun with family and friends!

Well this past weekend we went to visit my family, and spent some time with several friends as well. Let me tell you when you have a weekend to visit everyone for some reason there isn't enough hours in a day to get it all done!

Here is what my/our schedule looked like.

Arrive at "home" at 4:30
Eat supper
Go to shower for a friend 7:30 - 8:45ish
Go to cousin's engagement party so I can see my grandparents and aunts and uncles 9:00 - 10:30ish

Saturday:
Get up at 6:00 to go to the Farmer's Market, because I wanted to
9:00 - 11:00 go hang out with some friends for coffee
11:00 -12:30 go hang out at the Mall and do some shopping - score found a top I was looking for, for my BIL's wedding this coming August.
1:00 - Home, eat Lunch
2:30 -3:30 - Go visit my Grandma
4:00 - In town again to pick up my swaps - At my Upline's
4:30 - Meet friend so she can show me her house - They hope to get married the end of this month and are building a house

So as you can see way to much, at least Sunday was spent with my family just relaxing and attending church.

Anyway, now that you've seen what my crazy schedule was like here are some pictures :)

My sisters visit - Mid February

Well, I realize that this happened a little while ago, but things have been hectic around here between sewing, and then starting work in the greenhouse and everything else. No time for fun, namely blogging.. and I quite miss it!

Since this was a few weeks ago, I'm going to have to think hard, but since I have some hilarious pictures I'm going to post those first and get the story that goes with them up on here first of all!

So anyway, whenever we have company they sleep on the air mattress in the office. So us girls went out there to make the "bed", and Brit was laying on the mattress and didn't want to move so Janita and I decided that we would put the sheet over her.

As you can tell it was a bit of a challenge to keep it that way :) Oh the good times we sisters have!

After supper, we had popcorn, with Vanilla Root Beer in the martini glasses :) and then later cake.. yup we were celebrating Janita's birthday.

yes it was Valentine's weekend so of course we had a yummy cake.. :)

Tons of fun that weekend, and lots of new great memories were created!  Love you sisters! <3
