Baby's mind..

.. well as they say baby's tend to have a mind of their own, honestly I already knew that. Once you have your own baby though and have to care for the 24/7 you just find out how much that saying really means! Last night was a prime example of that saying. T decided that at 2:30ish she wanted to eat.. okay that's fine. Usually I feed her and put her back in bed within 1/2 hour and no big deal she sleeps for a few more hours. Well last night she decided that she didn't want to be sleeping when I put her down in her bassinet.. within 5 minutes she was having a fit, crying etc. So I picked her up thinking maybe she had a burp or something.. well, I tried burping her again.. nothing. Tried rocking her and humming since she really likes that and usually goes to sleep then.. nope she wanted nothing to do with rocking or humming. So fine we feed her some more, maybe she is still hungry.. so she eats some more. Then I went to lay down and feed her since I'm tired and figure maybe she'll go to sleep if we are laying down. Fat chance.. so I'm at my wits end. Finally I had John take her for a while. Well he had her for 1/2 hour and she wouldn't settle and was still wide awake. I ended up taking her again.. feeding her some more and she finally, yes FINALLY fell asleep.. after being up for somewhere between 2 1/2-3 hours. Needless to say, yes she had a mind of her own and poor mom!

Then off to work I went today, and because I was so tired what did I forget that it is Tuesday which means digital downloads.. so off I go to make another post with the link :)

Welcome our little girl

We welcomed a new little addition to our family Sunday morning. Birth didn't go the way we hoped that it would, since we ended up with a emergency c-section due to her having turned breech in the last few days before delivery. Definitely disappointing to have to deal with but we are so thankfully that she is healthy!

Here is a picture of our beautiful little daughter, Taylina. She weighed 8lbs 8oz, and was 20.5" long. Definitely a good sized baby and I got a lot of comments from people saying "where did you hide that baby" or "you carried that very well".

Digital Scrapbooking

Since I took part of the afternoon off, needing a much needed break... more like a nap, which didn't happen. I decided to work on the "baby's" scrapbook. I've been working on one off and on throughout my pregnancy to record things but kind of fell of the band wagon a little. Since we got maternity pictures taken on Saturday I wanted to include those in baby's album as well, it was an extra incentive to work on doing some this afternoon. I want to share with you a few of the pages that I got done so far.

New resident...

Well guess what we've got in our home now? A new resident, and yes get this it's not a baby! We went to Costco tonight to do groceries and they've had these gigantic bears for a while. Last time John said well if they are still there when we come again in a month maybe we'll buy one. Since they were what did he do, load one onto our cart, it was interesting to say the least! Since the bear is about 2/3's the size of us. We still had all the groceries to get in the cart though so John laid it across the children's seat hanging out over the ends :) Since I'm sure you all want to see this bear here it is.

Baby room progress

So the baby room is a working progress and slowly but surely we are getting there. The last really big thing that I need to finish is the tree that I'm painting on the wall. I looked everywhere trying to find a decent priced tree that was just what I wanted but of course I couldn't find one anywhere. So I decided to "free-hand" one onto the wall and then paint it. The pictures I'm posting today don't show the completed tree obviously but a rough "painting" and I still need to finish the branches off with a fine paint brush. Then comes the leaves, so just a bit of work yet. I'm sure you are curious by now so here are the pictures, of the baby room in progress and then the tree.

Update on Baby

It has been a little while since I've done an update post on baby, and baby related things like my bump, so I thought maybe today I should! :)

Baby has been super active the last week or so, definitely a very cool feeling! The way the movements feel have also started to change since baby doesn't have as much space to jab me anymore as he/she grows. Most of the time it isn't really hard kicks and punches anymore, but kind of a rolling movement as you feel the legs and arms moving, then little jabs. Obviously the jabs are much harder than they are when you first start feeling the baby move but still really cool!

The fun part is watching my belly move as baby moves around! The draw back is baby thinks it's always play time.. last night was especially bad. It was 11 at night and I'm laying in bed ready to go to sleep and baby won't stop moving, and I mean baby was hyper or something. Baby had already been moving a lot all evening, and usually when I go to bed he/she will move some but then stop. Not really the case last night.. it was party time!! It was getting so bad that I didn't know how I was going to get to sleep with all the activity :) Finally I rolled over onto my other side, maybe baby got the hint.. I'm not sure but he/she was not longer quite as active and stopped pretty quick after that! At least something worked!

I've also been waking up to baby moving around most mornings. Sometimes as early as 5, other mornings it's 7ish, and sometimes it's around 6. When it's around 7 it's totally okay, but at 5 or 6 in the morning not always cool! :) That all being said feeling baby move is pretty special!

So that is the baby part update.. now some on me!

For the most part things are going pretty good. Recently I've also found out that I've had a gall bladder attack a few times. This is definitely not any fun and is super painful. I've also figured out that super greasy food seems to be what triggers it. Especially when I've had lots of cheese in my spaghetti like I did a few weeks ago! Within an hour I felt horrible, ended up puking etc. and then about 1/2 later it was better! So not cool but I guess it is what it is. Other than that my sciatic nerve has also been bothering me. I'm blaming that on our road trip at Christmas time because that's when it started. I've been wearing a pregnancy support belt to help with that, and seeing the chiropractor, getting massages as well as doing an exercise recommended by a physical therapist.. with a lot of walking for exercise. Between the combination of things it's gotten to be much better, but I still have flare ups that tend to be pretty painful! Other than that I honestly don't have any complaints. I love being pregnant.. in spite of the crazy 10+ weeks of morning sickness, and now this. It is what it is! :)

Now for the bump picture!

So this is my 29 week bump picture ~ I'm about 29.5 weeks now.

Baby - Ultrasound

We had another ultrasound yesterday.. simply because my Dr. gave me the option of deciding if I wanted to do the 3rd ultrasound or not. After going back and forth on trying to decided I decided that why ever not.. after all seeing baby is kinda exciting! :)

Here is a 4-D picture of baby:

Currently baby is measuring right on target for my due date, and weighs approximately 2lbs 9 oz.

Baby Quilt - Boy Side

Well the girl side of the quilt is mostly sewn together, so today I decided to cut out the rest of the fabric for the boy side of the quilt. This time instead of cutting out all the blocks first and then laying it out on the floor I decided to do it as I went. Much better plan because I spent way less time messing around with the blocks trying to make sure that similar ones weren't touching where I didn't want them to be!! Since I know you are all really wanting to see the boy side here it is:

Baby Quilt - Girl Side

On Saturday we went out and bought the fabric for the baby quilt. I had decided that I didn't want to do green's or yellows in my quilt but wanted something that was strictly for a girl or boy. Since we aren't finding out what JR. is obviously I had to come up with a different idea. So in the end I decided that one side is having pinks, and the other side blues, with neutrals being browns/beige's so that each side would still have a similar fabric so I could make the curtains/valances.

Here is the fabrics I choose:
The middle 4 are my neutrals that are on both sides.

Today I cut out the fabric for the girls side into the blocks and laid them out on the floor. Now they are just waiting to be sewn together. The blue fabrics are just cut into rectangles yet... first I have to finish one side because I don't want quilt fabric laying all over my living room floor!

Here is a peek at the girl side as it is right now:

I had less darks than the pattern told me too, but that was because I wanted it to have a fair amount of pinks. In the end for the most part I tried to use the fabrics that had a distinct dark brown pattern/design on them for the darks.

Through the process of laying out the fabrics I was once again reminded of the similarities between quilting and puzzling. Especially when you are trying to figure out a way to have certain fabrics not touching, and not have 2 of the same in one block. Definitely makes life interesting!

I'll be back once I get the boy side started! :)

Double Digits

I can't believe that I'm already down to double digits as far as the countdown to my "due date" goes. I was looking at something today and all the sudden realized that yes in about 99 days or so baby could be here! Eeeek so exciting, but at the same time I need to get a few things done! :)  If this countdown is anything like counting down for my wedding was, the last few weeks are going to drag on forever!

Baby registry

Some days, I'm so sick of trying to get this baby registry all figured out! If it wasn't for having a baby shower and everyone wanting to know if we were registered or not I wouldn't even start. With our wedding we registered and the small amount of items that were purchased off of the registry made it frustrating. Such a huge waste of time!

The problem I'm running into now is that since the Ladies Group from church gives me a baby shower before baby is born and we aren't finding out if baby is a boy or girl, try to find neutral stuff that isn't yellow or green! Yes.. you read that right! I detest yellow and green outfits/sleepers for babies. I've found a few beige/tan/grey ones at Target, but you really need to look for them! Some days.... hmmm I just want to wait until after baby is born. The other side is then I have to buy all the newborn stuff myself, which would be okay as well.

One thing I am working on is getting my registries all onto one site: MyRegistry.com  At least this way you can send everyone to one place and they'll be good to go! The other thing I like about it is you can find items anywhere online and add them to the registry there so you aren't limited to particular stores. We shall see how that works though.

I guess off I go to see if I can get some of the "mess" figured out again!

Baby - changing table

Since we don't have a set for the bedroom furniture it becomes a hunt for a dresser or changing table for the room for baby. I found one that I really liked but it comes down to justifying the cost of a more expensive one or going with one that costs about 1/4 of the price, and it doing the job for now.

The one I really liked:

and then the one we bought:

Now we wait... I can't wait to get it. First order of business is going to be getting the room emptied out so we can paint!
