Looking Back: July 21 2009

Well, so day two of our honeymoon coming right up with pictures etc! :)

So of course being on our honeymoon we slept in and took it easy... had a delicious breakfast in the hotel restaurant, from there we planned our day. Then we went for a stroll around the our "resort" and also to the beach of course. Below you can see some picture of the general area right around the Catamaran "Spa" Resort and then some of Mission Beach.

Me standing on the balcony of our room which we didn't really use, unless you count standing on it for about 10 minutes every day first thing in the morning watching people LOL :) It wasn't private enough, or the chair weren't comfy enough to relax on. Either way we still had a few "nice" moments of view time off of the balcony!

After that we decided that we were going to go to the USS Midway and do the self-guided tour... at first I wasn't to crazy about going but John really wanted to, and I do kinda like military stuff so I decided to get over it and have fun anyway! In the end I'm sooo glad that we went, it was very interesting, and I never imagained a aircraft carrier to be that gigantic!! Wow it was amazing!

Above you can see how the planes were prepared for take off. They were hooked up to this track and then the Carrier would go full steam ahead while the plane had it engines going so that as soon as it reaches the end of the track it is going fast enough for take off. This is how a then manage to have planes take off of a carrier even though the distance for take off is much smaller than a runway in a typcial airport. When the plane comes back to land on the carrier there are cables that the hook on the back of the plane needs to catch. The planes need to fly at just the right level to land on deck. If they are too low or to high the signals (picture above)will tell them to go around and try again.

So that was our tour of the USS Midway. Then we went out for supper, which turned out to be burgers. John had a Kangaroo Burger, and I had a Bison Burger seemed to be the safer choice to me LOL... can you tell who is adventurous here or what eh?! 

Here is one final picture that I took while we were on the USS Midway.. of a fantastic looking bridge :) I'm not sure what it is called and I'm to lazy to find out right now so if you are curious enough I guess you will have to google it or something.

Now for the rest of our evening, Once we got back to the resort we did the typical. Go for a walk on the beach as the sunset! WHOOOT!

 If I could do this every day I would, I love hearing the water rushing up against the beach and then hearing the sand slowly trickle back as the water runs down again. It looks so amazing with the setting sun, and the fun little bubbles in the sand, the smell of salty ocean water, and the sound of seagulls. Watching the last few surfers battling the surf as they attempt to catch the last few waves for the day. There is only one word for this experience: Amazing!

We did this almost every night... some nights we got our feet wet others we just enjoyed walking in the sand, no matter what we did the feeling was amazing! :)

Looking Back: July 20, 2009

Well, seems like I had all these good intentions of doing a "looking back" post every day for our Honeymoon this year but life seems to have gotten in the way of that happening. So here goes for the offical first day of our Honeymoon now.

July 20, 2009.

We left our hotel fairly early in the morning since we still had about a 6 hour drive to the Spokane Airport where we were going to catch our flight to our destination, San Diego, California! WHOOT! :)

Anyway here are some pictures of our drive to the airport.. The first few are as we drove through Montana.

Looking back: July 19, 2009

Where were we? We were in Great Falls, Montana staying at the Crystal Inn for the first two nights (Saturday and Sunday night). On Sunday we went to church in the Choteau branch of our church. Met some new people/families that attend there. Other than that nothing overly exciting to report on the 19th since we just spent it relaxing for the most part!

Looking Back: A Year Ago - July 18, 2009

This was a day filled with many memories.. happy and sad! Happy because I was finally married to the most wonderful man in the world, sad because I was going to move to the US knowing that I wouldn't be back in Canada until I had my immigration papers taken care of!

That morning we went to my parents and unwrapped all our fabulous wedding gifts that we had received from our family and friends!

As well as another piece of wedding cake for anyone who was hungry enough to have a piece.. not me :(  We had just eaten breakfast before we went to my parents so I was way to full to even think about having another piece of cake... makes me sad even now thinking about that LOL! So I'm looking forward to our sheetcake "re-do" version of our wedding cake later on this week!

First Anniversary!

Well today was our first anniversary! I can't belive that a year has already gone by... we've definitely had our good and sad moments, but have grown closer through it all!

Anyway so yesterday I felt really crappy because it turns out I/we had gotten food poisoning.. oh oh... anyway so when John got home from work he told me he had to run to Ace and do some other stuff, but he would be right back! When he came home I was actually feeling better so I was out of bed puttering around when he came in. He told me to take a look in our backyard, because he had bought me a metal pole to hang my finchfeeder on. I had been talking about wanting one for a while already because having it hang from the eave on the side of the house right by my kitchen window didn't make for a great spot for bird watching! I was so happy when he got me that!!!

Then today, I had to clean this morning so I went and did that.. then came home did some laundry went back to get him from his parents' since he had been busy doing some pruning and weeding etc. Anyway when we get home he drops me off, and says I'll be right back.. I just need to run to U.S. Cellular and look into the phone plans like we had been talking about for a while. So I didn't think to much of that... then he comes home and nicely surprised me with a bouquet of PINK roses!! AWE!! and a really sappy wonderful card!!! I LOVE YOU John <3 He made my day!

Anyway we decided that we were going to go out for dinner for our anniversary, but I had one specification, it wasn't allowed to be in Sunnyside, and not somewhere that we would normally eat if we went out for dinner. So that left either somewhere in Yakima or the Tri-Cities. I told John to figure it out, since this discussion happened when I wasn't feeling to great yesterday. So we had decided seafood but not where etc. Anyway so he tells me about an hour before we left, we are going to the BoneFish Grill in the Tri-Cities. As soon as he mentioned it I wondered if it was this restaurant that I had passed many a time as I went to do groceries in Costco or not.. and tada sure enough.

Anyway now some pictures with the story! Since I can't not take a camera along to take pictures for keepsake!

The most amazing man a girl could ever want!! He hates having pictures taken but he puts up with me and my snap happy-ness amazingly well!

Our Bang Bang Shrimp.. this was absolutely amazing and I would totally go there just for this! This was on the  house!

John's meal: He ordered swordfish, and had some kind of Garlic Potatoes on the side, with Tomatoes.

My meal: I had Monkfish, which was very very very delish! I would totally get it again! Mixed veggies, and zucchinni on the side.

Now here are our complimentary ANNIVERSARY drinks.. on the house as well! (psst I'm so glad I told him it was our anniversary LOL) it was some type of Raspberry Champagne mixed drink! Very yummy as well!

Finally a picture of the two of us with our comp drinks.. our waiter was amazing.. he told us he wasn't great at taking pictures but he still did it for us! YAY!!!

So that is our first anniversary story in short!
